Eterna-Matic movement, one of a number of innovations by Eterna, was developed in 1948 as an improved self-winding mechanism using five strategically placed ball bearings in order to reduce friction and resistance on the oscillating weight that wound the watch. The effect was to make the movement more efficient and reduce the wear and tear on internal components.

In the original Eterna-Matic display double-box and papers, we are offering a vintage Eterna-Matic wristwatch dated from 1950-51. Self-winding watch, original Eterna-Matic movement caliber 1247TC, 17 jewels, sweep second, 42 hours power reserve, Swiss made.

Still with the original champagne dial with luminous gold Arabic Numerals and luminous hour marks applied; bold minute tracks and two-tone matching hands.

Dial is signed with the Eterna-Matic five-dot logo (five ball bearings used in the movement). 33mm round case and fancy lugs design.

It is coming with a brand-new black Genuine Leather two-piece strap.

This watch is in LOVELY condition! Runs very well and keep great time!

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men's watches typically measure between 29-36mm (some larger, some smaller) wide excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust light, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
